Improving Education on Sports, LIMA Collaborates with UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is always making efforts to establish partnership with any elements to improve quality of education in UNAIR. The partnerships are not always related to academic skill but also to soft skill improvement. LIMA (Liga Mahasiswa) invited UNAIR to produce students who are not only excellent at sports but also excellent in managing a team. LIMA itself is a private organization on sports development.

As a form of collaboration, UNAIR through its Director of Student Affairs with LIMA made an agreement in Director’s office, Management Office Building UNAIR, on Wednesday, August 3. The agreement was signed by Dr. M. Hadi Shubhan., S.H., M.H., CN, as the Director of Student Affairs  UNAIR and General Manager LIMA, Rida Achmad.

“UNAIR has been a participant since the first year in 2012, and we would like to show a learning platform to manage a sports event and coordinating management in the field,” said Rida.

With the agreement, UNAIR became a host for LIMA’s badminton East Java Conference competition. It will be held on August 3-7 2016, in Campus C UNAIR Sport centre. Previously, UNAIR was a host of Basketball East Java Conference held last February. UNAIR was also chosen as the host of LIMA’s Badminton Nationals on August 9-14.

For its roles in the competition, LIMA offered some benefits for UNAIR, one of them by giving training on sports on August 10-14. The trainings include Sport Journalistic, Sport Photography, Sport Marketing and Sport Management which invited some experts on the field as speakers.

Rida hoped that the collaboration can be done with any universities as LIMA aims to educate the society on sports from the business parties, managements to the sports itself.

“LIMA has some useful events for the students, with this collaboration, I hoped that students’ interest on sports will improve,” said Hadi Subhan.

In the occasion, Hadi told students competing in LIMA, to make LIMA as an event to strengthen ties with other athletes not as an event to determine the strongest. (*)
