UNAIR NEWS – To accelerate infrastructure development in Indonesia, university participation in needed. The statement was made by the President Director of PT. Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII) Shintya Rusli.
At least there are three aspects of roles Shintya mentioned. First, to push the awareness on infrastructure use. Second, to support applied researches to be used by private party, and government as the policy maker. Third, to produce human resources for infrastructure development and utilization. It was stated during ‘Symposium I: Innovation to Accelerate Infrastructure in Indonesia’ in Graha Institut Teknologi 10 Nopember, Wednesday, August 3.
“We are facing challenges to mobilize human resources which can work directly in infrastructure,” said Shintya.
Symposium held by University Network for Indonesia Infrastructure Development (UNIID), was fully supported by PT. PII. In the symposium, there was also annual meeting followed by Vice Rector II and Vice Rector IV UNAIR. In the occasion, Junaidi Khotib, Ph.D., as Vice Rector IV said that this year, UNAIR is committed to continue acceleration of infrastructure development which involves university.
“So, experts of universities think of ways to give innovative ideas and thoughts to accelerate infrastructure development,” he said.
Beside representatives of PT. PII and Vice Rector IV UNAIR, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education staff, Harry said that infrastructure revitalization of university should also be accelerated. But he admitted that university’s needs and wishes are not supported by the state budgeting so unfinished building in universities is often found.
“APBN is not sufficient. Campus gets supports in the beginning of the year, in August and September. As APBN is inconsistent, lots of infrastructure development in universities is unfinished. The need is a lot but unfinished projects are also many,” said Harry.
Harry added, as alternative, then campus is expected to collaborate actively with the government and companies. One of them is with PT. PII. Harry also reminded university to maintain status in Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) as reasonable without exception (WTP). Therefore, preparations must be made from the planning, operation to the maintenance.
In the same occasion, there were also presentations of 60 papers on infrastructure. The lecturers and researchers of UNAIR submitted second most papers in the parallel discussion.
General Director Dikti Ali Ghufron Mukti was also present in the event. He hoped that the researches discussed in the symposium and parallel discussion can be published in reputable international journals. (*)
