ITS Director of Student Affairs Visits UNAIR to Discuss KKN

UNAIR NEWS – Community Service Program – Learning Together with the Community (KKN-BBM) Program organized  by Universitas Airlangga has been referred by other universities. The Director of Student Affairs of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya Dr. Darmaji, S.Si, MT., has visited UNAIR to know more about the program.

“At the moment, ITS does not organize KKN but we used to have it. Therefore, we want to hold the program again,” said Darmaji in his visit. “As UNAIR has been consistently managed this program, we want to know more about it,” he added.

ITS delegation was received by the Head of Institute of Community Service, Education, Training and Development (LP4M ) UNAIR Prof. Dr. H. Jusuf Irianto, Drs., M.Com. Jusuf elaborated the program of KKN which has been managed by UNAIR.

“In UNAIR, KKN program has been in the curriculum, not only as a program. Therefore, our KKN has credit units and a part of the course,” said Jusuf.

The professor of FISIP UNAIR has also explained that the program is not managed by the Directorate of Student Affairs but the Directorate of Education. “As KKN program is in the curriculum, the authorities are given to the Directorate of Education and we are involved in the process,” he said.

The expert of Human Resources Management added that his unit allocates some fund to support the program. The support given is in managing the transportation from their departure to their arrival from the program sites.

“We facilitate the buses for the students, so they can’t go to KKN sites by motorbikes. It is for their safety as well,” he said.

In the end of the meeting, Jusuf explained various models of KKN UNAIR managed, Thematic KKN, Nationalism KKN and labor intensive program.

“If KKN unites students from various programs, their life-skills to live alongside others with different fields will be well-practiced,” he said.
