LAM-PTKES Revisits Study Program in FK UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Medicine Airlangga University received the arrival of two representatives of the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKES). They came for visiting Study Program (Prodi) pediatrics of FK UNAIR-RSUD Dr. Soetomo.

Dean of FK Unair Prof. Soetojo, dr., Sp.U (K)., welcomed the presence of Dr Endi Paryanto Prawiro Hartono, Sp.A (K)., MPH., And Prof. Dr. dr. Dedi Rachmadi, Sp.A (K)., M.Kes., At the Special Assembly Room Faculty of Medicine UNAIR, Tuesday (7/11).

Throughout 2017, LAM-PTKES conducted a visitation of three study programs at Faculty of Medicine UNAIR and all of them successfully achieved accreditation “A”. First, Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine FK UNAIR-RSUD Dr. Soetomo. The second is Physical Medical Science and Rehabilitation FK UNAIR-RSUD Dr. Soetomo. The last is Psychiatry study program FK UNAIR-RSUD Dr.Soetomo.

The visitation run for three days start from 5 – 7 July 2017. The visitation team did assessment to ascertain the entire submitted forms which has been accordance with field condition.

The assessment process is through several stages. First, a discussion of what was written in the form of mission and vision and also kind of support for what has been done. Second, interviews with alumni, students, and lecturers.

Based on law, LAM-PTKES is an external accreditation agency of health universities which has authority to accredit institutions of educational institutions. It is a legality of the organization of an institution.

In the organization of accreditation, LAM-PTKES has codes of ethics or certain procedures. For example, when counseling is not allowed to meet with the facilitator so that the guidance process is conducted via network (online).

Furthermore, the assessed institutions would be given the opportunity to repair and improve the form within 90 working days. Once the form is considered feasible, then, the assessor team will record all reported data with fact on the field.

They also have specific code of ethic is has no conflict with the assessed institution.

The compliance established through the accreditation actually would bring many benefits for the program study itself; the developed innovations from the reports who had been submitted to the assessors will facilitate the implementation of accreditation in the following year.
