New Nurses Ready for Global Competition

UNAIR NEWS – First period of Nurses Inauguration in 2017 was held on Wednesday (8/2) on 2nd Floor hall of Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), Campus C, Universitas Airlangga. There were 81 graduates, 30 men and 51 women, officially earned a title as Nurse, taking their oath in presence of religious officials.

Rector Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE.,Mt.,Ak.,CMA congratulated and encouraged those who were just inaugurated as a new nurse in his official address.

“I hope, the knowledge can be useful in life, especially in the contribution to nursing science,” he said.

Dean of Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Nursalam, M.Nurs (Hons) said that  the new-born nurses will face the tight competition; and it will be even more competitive in the global competition.

“Competence have been prepared in courses, so it can support the alumni to face global competition,” he said.

Prof. Nursalam also added that the courses conducted in Faculty of Nursing always refer to the standard of competence.  There are five aspects that need to be understood. First, the legal practice of Ethics, Professionalism, Leadership and the Management, Education and Research, professional development which have been described included in the competency test to face global competition.

“In assessment pf row input in Faculty of Nursing Universitas Airlangga itself  is higher enough than the other universities,” he continued.

Zainal Abidin in agreement with Prof. Nursalam said that the most important things are hardwork, discipline, and morality pursuant to UNAIR tagline, Excellence with Morality. Especially for nurses, collaboration is important to maintain solid teamwork and excellent work.

Zainal Abidin, one of the graduates who had the chance to deliver his remarks said the development in the field of nursing has forced him to keep learning.

“I would like to continue my study, so I am able to improve the nursing competency standard,” Zainal said.

“In line with my goals to contribute in nursing; I would like to create new researches which can solve problems in health cases. Researches can be a medical reference in developing motivation to meet the target and be optimistic,”  said Zainal, the alumni of B17. (*)
