Prof. Muslich, from Industrial World to Accountancy Management Expert

UNAIR NEWS – Having a lot of experiences in industrial world and extra education which he took before starting college in bachelor program, Prof. Dr. H. Muslich Anshori, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., CA. studies two closely connected sciences namely accountancy and management. For the record, before starting his bachelor program, Muslich passed the Advanced Vocational Education “MIGAS” in the study of Biotechnology at the Oil and Gas Institution which cooperated with Bandung Technology Institute (ITB) in 1976.

“Moreover, in 1977 I also passed the Biotechnology Post Training, Oil and Gas Institution which cooperated with Gajah Mada University,” Muslich added.

With his background of a bachelor degree in Accountancy and experience in company world, Muslich focuses his study on management accountancy. Muslich in fact continued his master program to Postgraduate Study of Industrial Management and Engineering, Bandung Technology Institute (ITB). His study diversity became more complete when he continued his doctoral study to Economics Science Program, Universitas Airlangga.

The scholarly focus of the Faculty of Economics and Business’ (FEB) Dean for the period of 2010-2015 to management accountancy is proven by his action to take part in various researches and scientific publication. Among others is a scientific work entitled “Business Strategy, Production Capability, and Marketing Capability: Do They Affect Business Performance?” which was published by Economics Magazine Year X, No. 2, August 2000.

“While at FEB UNAIR itself, I actively give lectures around management accountancy science from bachelor to doctoral programs,” he added.

Besides giving lectures, the man who was born in Jombang, 21 March 1952 also actively runs several Scientific Magazines, for example being the Editor of Economics and Business Journal which used to be known as Economics Magazine, FEB UNAIR; Editorial of Entrepreneur Business and Economics Journal FIS UNESA; Editor of Asia Pacific Management Review (AMPR); The Social Science Research Centre, National Science Council, Taiwan, Republic of China; and the Member of Editorial Board for Accounting Business and Economic Review (ABER), Faculty of Management and Economics, Universiti Malaya Terengganu.

Muslich who once was a Vice Rector II UNAIR for the period of 2007-2010 also added that his interest in Accountancy and Management is mostly affected by his educational background and some experiences he has gained.

“My interest is indeed towards this science. Here is how, when financial accountancy focuses on financial problems, financial report and et cetera, then management accountancy is an accounting result which functions as one of the information needed to make a decision,” he concluded.
