UNAIR NEWS – Steps and breakthroughs towards 500 world-class campus continues to be done by all elements in Universitas Airlangga. One of them is Institute of Research and Innovation (LPI). As one of the institutes in charge of research and innovation, LPI has issued various policies to encourage researchers, especially lecturers, to continue research and innovation.
Responding to this matter, the Head of LPI UNAIR Prof. Hery Purnobasuki, MSi., PhD., last week stated that the results of research and innovation of lecturers are not expected to stop at the research report. Furthermore, it encourages the researches to reach the manufacture stage and published.
“We keep pushing this. In order to get acknowledgement from other countries, the trick is through the publication, “he explained.
Regarding the publication, Hery asserted that the challenges facing the future are getting bigger. As the head of LPI, he was targeted by the top-ranked officials to produce international publications, especially publications indexed by Scopus .
“We are targeted to produce 400 publications. Until this October, our researches has reached more than 300 works. This should be increased to meet the target in the end of the year, “he explained.
Not only to support publications, Hery also seeks to improve the quality of researchers. Therefore, his institute together with the General Directorate of Research and Development Reinforcement and Education and Training Center of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education with National Research Reviewer (RPN), together with Quantum HRM International and National Standardization Board held a Certified Research Reviewer Training for UNAIR lecturers in the end of October.
In the event at Hotel Swiss-Belinn Surabaya, there were 50 research lecturers who have become direct reviewers appointed by LPI UNAIR. According to Hery, the cooperation with the central government is aimed to produce honest and professional research reviewers in assessing the feasibility of research proposals and outputs.
“Everything should be standardized. We were very selective in choosing the lecturers with extensive considerations,” he said.
The quality improvement of researchers is necessary because with certification the result of research proposal can be maximized in the future.
Furthermore, the professor of FST UNAIR added that by having a certificate, the research lecturer who will become the reviewer can encourage UNAIR researchers to produce good research and it increased the number of the national reviewers.
“By becoming a certified reviewer, the demands are bigger. So the research proposal will actually produce real results for the country, “he concluded.
