Sharpening Leadership and Togetherness through LKB3M

UNAIR NEWS – Airlangga University Bidikmisi Organization (AUBMO) PSDKU Universitas Airlangga in Banyuwangi held an iftar event. However, this joint event was slightly different from the previous year, AUBMO PSDKU team innovated by organizing leadership training materials in it.

The event entitled Leadership Training and Iftar Event with Bidik Misi (LKB3M), “Prepare Yourself with Leadership to your Bright Future”, was implemented on Saturday, May 19, AUBMO PSDKU invited Nuri Hermawan, S.Hum., as the alumni of bidikmisi who currently works as a staff at PIH UNAIR.

On that occasion, the alumnus Sastra Indonesia UNAIR said that the struggle of bidikmisi students is not enough with only academic performance, but must be balanced with skills through organizational activities, committees, dedication to sharpen the awarness to the surrounding environment.

“Even if you follow organizational activities, graduate on time. In my time, more than half of the students who received bidikmisi aid did not graduate on time. Do not let this happen to you guys, “said the Blitar native.

During the event, the students receiving the education aid of bidikmisi at PSDKU were invited to recall the history of the launching of the bidikmisi education fund in Indonesia.

“Because by understanding history, we will not make wrong steps in deciding the direction,” he said.

LKB3M event was held in Room B201 Giri Campus PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi. In addition to leadership training and iftar event, there was  also tarawih prayers in congregation. According to Ulviana Dewi Kumalasari one of the participants, through LKB3M activities she is more familiar with the history of bidikmisi.

“And we can feel it now, as less fortunate students can continue to college in Indonesia,” she explained.

After giving the material, there was a simulation session. In this session the participants were divided into groups of 6-7 people. The simulation consists of two parts, a game of numbers and a frame arrangement. In the stacking game, participants are invited to draw numbers from nominal 0-9 and count operations to produce the greatest possible numbers and smallest numbers.

“The first goal was to train participants to develop strategies to achieve maximum target with the group,” explained the student who is familiarly called Ulvi.
