UNAIR 79 Graduated Nurses Ready to Serve

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga has graduated nurses to contribute in the society. There were 79 nurses graduated and taken oath in Garuda Mukti Hall, UNAIR Management Office Building, on Tuesday March 1.

The oath taking and graduation ceremony was attended by the Head of Regional Council of Indonesian Nurse Association (PPNI) Ahmad Yusuf, S.Kp, M.Kes, the Dean of UNAIR Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Nursalam, M.Nurs (Hos), UNAIR Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM, UNAIR Hospital Director Prof. Dr. Nasronudin, dr., Sp.PD-KPTI, FINASIM, and the relatives of the graduates.

After the graduation and the new nurses oath-taking, by the Head of Regional Council of PPNI symbolically put on organizational emblem to the chosen representative graduate. Then souvenir from the alumni were given to the dean of FKp and rewards were awarded to graduates with achievements.

In the occasion, Prof. Nursalam congratulated all the graduated nurses. In his speech, Dean of FKp stated the faculty achievements as Nursing program and Nursing Education program were accredited A by LAM-PTKes in January 2016. Prof. Nursalam who is University of Wollongong graduate also said encouragements to new nurses to compete in MEA.

“Nurses should have the courage to act and change for the better in order to improve the service quality and the professionals’ future. Courage is not out of ignorance of things, but the glory of conquering the fear of self,” Prof. Nursalam said.

UNAIR Hospital Director, Prof. Nasronudin also said a few words to the graduates. According to him, new nurses should adapt the health technological development and professional service quality development.

“Current public expectation to health service quality has increased. In line with it, nurses should be ready with their knowledge and experience,” said the professor on Tropical Disease.

In the closing of the event, UNAIR Vice Rector I, Prof. Djoko said that the nurses should contribute actively in the efforts of solving health problems as formulated in the Millenium Development Goals. (*)
