UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga continues to show its concern for the world’s problems. One of them is by cooperating with Indonesia One Health University Network (INDOHUN).
The cooperation was realized with an agreement to establish One Health Collaboration Center (OHCC), Monday, July 17.
At the event held at Amerta Hall, the Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM., said that the establishment of OHCC is an effort of UNAIR’s concern to global health.
“This is the mandate of the United Nations to maintain the health of the world,” he explained.
Furthermore, Prof. Djoko also said the collaboration between UNAIR and OHCC could improve the researches needed by the community. To address various health problems of the world or Indonesia, Prof. Djoko stressed that the presence of OHCC was strategic.
“How can Indonesia deal with various health problems like this. It takes collaboration between universities and we can do with OHCC, “added Djoko.
Representative from INDOHUN Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, drh., M.Sc., Ph.D., said that INDOHUN already has a network with a number of universities. This collaboration network is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
“This organization is important for Indonesia as health problems can not be solved alone, “said Wiku.
Regarding OHCC, Wiku added that it has become the main discussion of world health issues. Universities can utilize the presence of OHCC to conduct research and publications.
“By doing activities like this, the role of universities to the world will be more significant,” he added.
In addition to the form of research and dedication on each universities, they can also jointly contribute to the community.
“This is a great mission from universities to work together in a collaboration. Because it will be amazing if the universities can unite. That’s what we had in mind and we hope for supports,” explained Prof. Wiku.
