UNAIR NEWS – The Library Study Program of Universitas Airlangga Faculty of Vocational Studies promoted community reading corners as its community service program in Kalidami, from September until November.
Tiara Kusumaningtyas S Hum M Hum supervised the program. Nur Ailiya Hanum, the team leader, said that the P2MD STINE community service group identified some problems which was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them is the lack of learning motivation in children and the excessive use of gadgets.
“Therefore, we presented this program to improve children’s learning motivation through games with Pancasila values. Besides, our program also educates the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) mothers who are monitoring their children’s growth and development during the technology era,” Hanum said.
As the supervising lecturer, she ran four programs. The first program, the Workshop Information Guidance, helps mothers process information accurately to prevent any misinformation. The group provides the materials to the locals with games and rewards.
The second program, Know Yourself, gives more understanding to children about Pancasila values in daily life and gets them to know about themselves through storytelling. The third one is the Find and Solve game, where the children made groups to solve the puzzles about Pancasila. It sharpens their critical thinking skills and internalizes the Pancasila values.
The fourth one is the Procurement of Collections and Infrastructure, where the P2MD STINE procured stuff for the public.
“Besides, we have also made improvements and purchased new infrastructure. The reading corner is even more comfortable now,” said Hanum.
