UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga students have chalked up another national achievement by receiving funding for Kemendikbud Ristek’s Entrepreneurial Student Development Program (P2MW). Ilham Ahmad Kamil, Mohamad Satria Jagad, Ahmad Rizqi Fahrozi, Syarifah Fildzah Shahab, and Putri Nabilah initiated ‘BLAIR,’ an applied technology-based business innovation.
Improving selling price
BLAIR was born from the urge to improve the economic value of the lemongrass essential oil. “We are here to process the ingredient into a highly marketable final product. We buy the oil straight from the farmers to prevent dropping prices,” said Ilham, the group leader.
Supervised by Diansanto Prayoga SKM M Kes from UNAIR Faculty of Public Health (FKM) had innovated the lemongrass essential oil into some final products, such as 230 ml multi linen spray, 60 ml multi linen spray, reed diffuser, organic soap, and essential oils.
Improving the community’s welfare
Apart from empowering the lemongrass farmers, the business idea aims to improve the local community of Banjaragung Village, Jember. “We empowered the locals through product packaging workshops and etc., so that both farmers and the local community could raise their income,” said the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM) student.
Consumer benefits
BLAIR also prioritizes quality excellence and benefits in its products. Focusing on the health sector, BLAIR’s products help relax the mind and reduce stress.
Consumers may practically use lemongrass oil for daily purposes. BLAIR is available in the marketplace for consumers to get the product and consult with the admin.
Keep innovating
To strengthen the business, Ilham and his team planned to finalize the product legality and create more products for the consumer’s needs.
He hoped that BLAIR may achieve its goals of providing the biggest economic assistance for the community, the farmers, and the consumers.
“We believe that the lemongrass farmers’ prayers and hopes lie within each of the BLAIR product,” Ilham said.
