UNAIR NEWS – Various programs were put forward by students having Community Service Program – Learning Together with the Community (KKN-BBM) in Tanjung Anom Sub-district, Nganjuk Regency. The programs included education, health, environment, and entrepreneurship sector.
Community service is an opportunity for the students to apply their skills in the real world. Take what the student team do in Desa Kampung Baru, Thursday (2/2). They supervised the cattle breeders in making urea mineral molasses block (UMMB).
Rizki Putrianirma, a student from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine said that the supervision on how to make UMMB aimed to improve the cattle breeders knowledge about nutritious feed.
“UMMB is made from bran, mineral and salt as mineral source, urea, molasses (by-product of sugar factory) as energy source, and starch/white cement as glue. UMMB is good for boosting feed digestion efficiency, increasing production and improving reproduction, as well as advancing feed nutritive value,” said Rizki.
Rizki added, after UMMB dried, the student team will supervise the cattle breeders in feeding their cattle.
Besides supervision, students from the Faculty of Medicines performed free general check-up. They organized a counseling about the importance of mother’s milk, performed blood sugar, uric acid and blood pressure check-up.
Meanwhile in a different place, Abel Dwi Laksono, KKN coordinator in Tanjung Anom sub-district explained about a joint program which they would do on 8 February. They were going to hold a program which will be attended by Nganjuk Regent.

“We are going to invite Nganjuk Regent. We’re gonna hold a mass gymnastics, perform blood donor, plant 1000 trees for forestation, high-ranking product exhibition, the nine basic necessities delivery, painting competition, art show, and dance performance by students from Brunei,” said Abel, a student from the Faculty of Economics and Business.
Budiarto, drh., MP., Secretary of Institute of Community Service, Education, Training and Development (LP4M ) appreciated the various programs put up by KKN students. He hoped the programs would breed positive effect on society.
“In the past KKN means building a guard house, a street, a sentry post. Nowadays we tend to change public way of thinking and believes,” said Budi. (*)
