Woro Andini: 2018 UNAIR Bidikmisi Recipient from Merauke, Papua

UNAIR NEWS – She smiled when UNAIR NEWS interviewed at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) Campus C Universitas Airlangga on Monday afternoon, July 23. Occasionally, her hands covered her shy face when UNAIR NEWS asked about her success story to get into UNAIR.

Her name is Diajeng Woro Andini. The girl born in Merauke, February 10, 2001, is a student who received a Bidikmisi scholarship from Merauke, Papua. Andini is accepted in Faculty of Law through 2018 SNMPTN.

“I am very happy and proud, being accepted at UNAIR,” she said.

Andini revealed that she once wanted to be a flight attendant. This also a part of her story for registering to UNAIR. Her mother did not allow her pursuing a career as a flight attendant.

“Mom didn’t allow me to become a flight attendant,” she said.

Then, her mother gave two other options, to be a lawyer or a policewoman. For this choices, Andini was uncertain at first.

“Finally, I reflect and think about it again. I choose to be a lawyer, ” she said.

“Therefore, I chose to apply to UNAIR majoring in law,” she added.

Andini said that during registration for SNMPTN, the teacher had questioned her choice to UNAIR in the SNMPTN. Because, according to the teacher, the choice is quite risky as entry to UNAIR is not easy.

“I have also doubted this choice at first,” she said.

“Finally, I found determination. And I feel I must try first to see the results. If not accepted, it means it’s not my destiny to study at UNAIR, ” she added.

When SNMPTN finally announced, there is a sense of disbelief when Andini check the results. She checked it for a few times in the announcement page. Although Andini was confident for being accepted.

“I was surprised. It turned out that I was accepted at UNAIR in Law. It was a mix of happiness and disbelief to be accepted at UNAIR, ” she said.

Andini finally accepted at UNAIR. The day after that, she went to school and reported the results.

“My teacher was also very surprised and did not believe if I could be accepted,” she said.

Andini’s achievement in high school was getting the second highest UNBK score, and that is one of the key achievements. In addition, she is diligent in her study. Andini believes that she is capable. The most important thing, she said, is praying to God the Almighty.

To another students, Andini said that she believed in all her capabilities and strengths. Success will not come to those who are just waiting. Success comes to those who try and do something.

“Easy things will be difficult if the first thing that comes to our mind is a difficult word. Keep trying even with various limitations, do not forget to pray to God, ” she said. (*)
