UNAIR NEWS – Studying at universities is not a dream for those who has strong will. However, financial problems often make children of the nation cannot continue their study to the higher levels. For that reason, the government via Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry give education fund through Bidikmisi scholarship.
At Universitas Airlangga, Bidikmisi is informed to schools through Bidikmisi Goes to School (BMGTS) program. The aim is to introduce Bidikmisi to remote areas so that SMA/SMK/Equivalent students know the chance to get financial help to support university.
This program is held in various regions, one of which is Malang. Malang BMGTS chapter starts the informative program on Friday (3/2) 2017 at MAN Gondanglegi, Malang Regency. As planned, the program will be continued to SMA Muhammadiyah 1 and MAN Nurulmutaqin Tlogowaru, Malang. Schools are chosen based on their lack of information access about Bidikmisi, especially remote schools.
“Remote schools need more information about Bidikmisi than downtown schools,” said Riza Koiriyah, one of BMGTS board Malang chapter.
Riza Koiriyah explains, MAN Gondanglegi students enthusiasm to study in a university is quite high. The will to realize their dreams and the importance of education become the main drive to continue their study to the higher level. Besides, they want to prove that in spite of their schools location, they can also take part in developing the nation.
“Bidikmisi is one of the connecting ropes between their dreams and their future. In addition, education is the breaker of poverty chains. I hope through BMGTS, they will continue their education through Bidikmisi,” she added.
Riza hopes, in the future BMGTS really motivates High School students from remote schools to continue their study to university. Because these young generation will become part of demography bonus. Thus, our nation will not only abundant in terms of quantity of the generation, but also abundant in the generation’s quality in terms of ability and education. (*)
