Developing Student Entrepreneurship with Business Talk show

UNAIR NEWS – Running a business does not consider the age. Nowadays the youth also innovates to start up their own businesses. However, there are always obstacles to develop stable business.

For that reason, Student Executive Board (BEM) FEB UNAIR in collaboration with Career and Entrepreneurship Development Center (PPKK) UNAIR held a business talk show entitled Become A Successful Entrepreneur Through Solutive and Creative Ideas on Tuesday, October 31.

In the seminar, there were some speakers, a lecturer of entrepreneurship Tri Siwi Agustina, CEO AVERO footfreshener Fikri Abdillah, owner of Giyomi Nadia Prasetyo, and CEO Ojek Syar’I Evilita Andriani. The participants can also visit the booths of Airlangga Localpreneur Competition finalists, and voted the best one.

“The speakers presented their ideas and innovation in business. Hopefully after the seminar, the participants get insights for their business,” stated the Head of BEM FEB UNAIR Fajar Pratomo.

In running a business, Siwi explained that there are some challenges faced by the students such as obstacles from college activities and financial or capital limitation.

“Di FEB, there are some entrepreneurship courses. Students are obliged to create a product and conduct simple researches. Unfortunately, most of them do not continue their projects,” explained Siwi.

“The students motivation in doing business is dynamic, when they face an obstacle, they have low motivation but then they got the spirit back from crowdfunding as alternative. Some have obstacles from their partners,” she added.

Regarding the criteria, Siwi admitted that being a businessman should not always from the business class. Friends, families can be a place to learn business.

As a young businesswoman, Nadia agreed with the statement. She was graduated from banking management, but she started her business in clothing line,  from shirits, pants, to veils. She admitted that she started from being a reseller and then decided to produce by herself because she thought that there is no end for this business.

“In doing business, trust is important and do not over think anything. Don’t be afraid and don’t think too much,” added Nadia.
