New Doctors Urged to Have Idealism and Social Awareness

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga held another doctor inauguration. It was the fourth inauguration in 2017. This time it was held on Thursday, October 2.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by 47 new doctors in the Hall of FK UNAIR. On behalf of the new doctors, dr. Baihaqi Ramadan, in his speech, invites his colleagues to thank all people who led them to become doctors including patients who have been treated. He asserted that their true journey and dedication was only started.

“The taking of this oath was indeed the end of medical education, but the beginning of their devotion,” he said.

Dean of FK UNAIR Prof. Soetojo who attended the event invited the new doctors to continue improving health services to the community. In addition, he reminded them not to forget the oath that they took.

“The oath becomes a trust that you must hold. The honor of the alma mater must be maintained, “he said.

On behalf of the rector, Vice Rector IV UNAIR Junaidi Khotib, Ph.D., stated that there were still many things to be solved together. He also hoped the new doctors can apply their oath well.

“Out there, work well because you have been educated well,” he said.

Junaidi also reminded them to the complex challenges in medicine and the growing variety of diseases.  There is a challenge to maintain and improve  their quality.

“Remember, there are many challenges, in the development of types of diseases and the quality of competing physicians. Therefore, we must continue to remain active in the field of science so that our knowledge continues to grow, “said Junaidi.

In the end, Junaidi appealed to the new doctors to be consistent and to maintain his idealism and unconditional service. Junaidi believed that UNAIR graduates have good quality of work and reputation. Because since they entered UNAIR, the new doctors are educated with the motto of excellence with morality.

“I hope the new doctors can make real contributions to the alma mater. Not just intellectual ability, but also integrity. Do not say you are alumni of UNAIR if you cannot work professionally and generously, “he concluded. (*)
