UNAIR NEWS – Team of Maternal Care Program (GELIAT) of Universitas Airlangga, conducting “Meet and Greet” activity with the volunteers. The event took place at the Hall of Infection Hospital, Campus C UNAIR on Saturday (18/11).
According to Qurnia Andayani, the doctoral student of Health Sciences student as chairman of the committee and served as coordinator of UNAIR Geliat volunteers, the event was held to embrace the sociability and recommitment for GELIAT UNAIR volunteers. In addition, the event is also to welcome the Airlangga Civitas, including, student of D3 (Diploma Degree), S1(Undergraduate Degree), S2 (master Program) and S3(Doctoral Program) , alumni, lecturers and UNAIR staff who would like to contribute as GELIAT volunteers.
“So, the volunteers are also come from UNAIR Civitas,” She said
The event entitled “Ibu Sehat, Generasi Hebat” (Health Mother, Health Generation) officially opened by Dr. Nyoman Anita Damayanti, drg. M.S. as the founder of UNAIR GELIAT. In her speech, she invited the participants to continue to contribute in reducing MMR (Mortality Rate) and IMR (Infant Mortality Rate) in Indonesia with Surabaya as the initiation city.
“I expect for this city (Surabaya, -red) could be as the pioneer to make it success,” She said
Various Series of Events
The “Meet and Greet” GELIAT UNAIR consisted of various events. Motivation lecture was spoken by drg. Evy Syagran, Sp.KGA., M.M. and out bond event facilitated by UNAIR’s Geliat team. The event took place from 07.30 WIB to 13.00 WIB. Although, the event run briefly, the participants were very enthusiastic in attending the event that day.
After motivation speech, the following agenda was symbolic sign as recommitment of GELIAT team in contributing to reduce the number of MMR and IMR.
The participants expected that this kind of activity would be continuously and regularly conducted. In addition, this also expected to become a place to motivate and embrace the volunteer to run the GELIAT program as its vision and mission.
