UNAIR NEWS – The association of Indonesia Pencak Silat of UNAIR win nine medals at 3rd Singapore Open Pencak Silat Championship 2017 in November 16 – 19 which took place at Bedok Sport Hall Complex, Singapore.
This prestigious championship was followed by 400 participants from various country, includes, Singapura, India and also many pencak silat teams from Indonesia.
UNAIR dispatched 16 athletes who consisted of 10 athletes from SH Terate Student Club, 4 Athletes from Tapak Suci Student Club, and 2 Athletes from Perisai Diri Student club. They brought three gold medals, 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
The winner consisted of adult female double (1st winner) by Mu’afiah (FKM 2015) and Uswatun Khasanah (FIB 2015), adult female class C (1st winner) by Eny Mayangsari (FISIP 2014), Adult female class F (1st winner) by Devy Nadya Ramadhani (FIB 2016) and adult female single (2nd winner ) by Indra Purwanti (FPK 2014). Adult Men Group (2nd winner ) by Nanda Saiful Anam (FISIP 2013), Andaru Rizki (FKH 2014), and M. Baharuddin Fatih (FKP 2013). Adult Men classF ( 2nd winner ) by Tirta Agung (FPK 2015); adult female group (3rd winner) by Nur Choiriyah (FST 2014), Siti Aisyah (FISIP 2016), dan Della Pramarsya (FEB 2016);adult men class A (3rd winner) by Abdul Aziz (FPK 2014); adult men class I (3rd winner) by Alfiansya Noval S. (FKH 2014).
Since the past championship left her unsatisfied because she only won The 2nd Place C Class of Female in Senior Match Category, now, she could stand in the highest podium as the winner.
“I wanted to be the first winner in previous championship by unfortunately I just won the second position. So, I decided to do training intensively. In addition to be with my club in UKM UNAIR, I also train with my coach,” Said the Perisai Diri UNAIR Athlete
Although the opposite considered had more expertise and been prepared for this championship, UNAIR Athletes did not lose faith.
“In our University has no specific sport department like others, student clubs is the place for accommodating our hobbies. It’s different from foreign athletes who been prepared for ASIAN Games, and also in this championship. We are so proud of UNAIR,” Teguh Satrio said, the manager of the team
Their struggle was quite hard. They almost missed the plane due to long time for registering the sharp object for the championship properties.
This tournament was the sixth time that we became a women’s doubles. When the day of departure, we almost missed the plane because we had to administer our sharp object property for our artistic performances, such as machete and toyak. Before leaving, I also had a broken bone in the leg. We almost hesitated to win, but remain optimistic.
