Faisal Merdekawan, Nusantara Activist Scholarship Recipient from Faculty of Law

UNAIR NEWS – Students must be familiar with scholarships. Almost all students wish to get one of the available scholarships. Faisal Merdekawan, a sixth semester student of the Faculty of Law (FH) of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is one of them and he deserves to be proud because he was selected to be one of the few selected national students to receive a Nusantara Activist scholarship from non-profit institutions Dompet Dhuafa.

“Initially, I accidentally saw this Nusantara Activist scholarship poster in a wall magazine. Then, I was interested and found out more from various sources, including my seniors, “he said.

The Nusantara Activist Scholarship is a human resource investment program that is given to student activists in various fields aimed at forming statesman, leader with character, contributor, and outstanding achiever. The scholarship is manifested in three forms of activity, through the support activities domestically and abroad and self-development facilities. For example, training and coaching. In order to register as a potential scholarship recipient, there are several requirements that must be met, such as being Muslims and have become speakers on a campus scale and write in mass media.

“The process of getting the scholarship is quite long. First, submitting the essay. Second, submitting CV ( Curriculum Vitae ), motivating letter, letters of recommendation, and social project . Third, making a video of yourself and then submit the essay again. Fourth, Interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The last one was a public test. This scholarship is valid for two years, but for coaching was only a year, “said Faisal.

After receiving the scholarship, Faisal must improve himself in academic, non-academic and religion. Among the hundreds of registrants, Faisal was one of six students from Surabaya who qualified. Besides from UNAIR, there are also students from Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). (*)
