UNAIR NEWS – The scorching heat of Surabaya and sometimes the heavy rain that comes unexpected makes people forced to find shelter. Universitas Airlangga academicians also experience this.
Seeing that, UNAIR Directorate of facilities and infrastructure added new facility by building a canopy over the sidewalk that extends from the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), the Library, the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF), the Language Center, and the Faculty of Law (FH).
UNAIR NEWSÂ summarized some students’ impression of the new roof or canopy used by all UNAIR academicians.
It is very useful as Surabaya at noon is very hot. When it rains we are not worried because there is a roof. In addition, if we go home at night from FISIP the street used to be dark, now it is bright because of the roof lights. So do not be afraid to go home alone.

It’s nice. Before the roof was there it was hot but now not anymore. In addition, it’s very useful when the rain falls, the road under the roof is not wet. I hope there will be more of it to make pedestrians feel comfortable.

I think it is the right thing to builld the canopy or the roof to provide comfort for the academic community passing by without fear of overheating or rain. Moreover, more innovations needed eg campus go green in order to maintain and even improve the air in the day.
