UNAIR NEWS – The plan for establishing Campus E UNAIR in northern Gresik was greatly welcomed by Gresik government. It was proven by the visit of current Gresik Regent, Dr. Sambari Halim Radianto to UNAIR on Tuesday, August 23. The regent who is also alumnus of UNAIR was welcomed by UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., in his room with other high officials of UNAIR. Not only the regent, the chairman of  PT Polowijo Gosari Group, A. Djauhar Arifin was also present to consolidate the development of education complex established in northern Gresik.

After having lunch together, the meeting was moderated by Vice Rector IV, Junaidi Khotib, S.Si., M.Kes., Ph.D. In his address, Prof. Nasih explained that the role to improve the society is supposed to be done together, PT Polowijo from the industrial provided the land, UNAIR is ready to contribute for the SDM and the government is ready to manage the permits and protection in the future.

“University, government and industrials should work together with their own capacity,” said Prof. Nasih.

In response to rector’s statement, the regent named as regional leadership with most innovations welcomed well the idea initiated by PT Polowijo Gosari Grup with UNAIR. For him, Pemkab Gresik to create healthy and prosperous society is achieved. He added that efforts to Gresik Pintar (Smart Gresik) are to be made.

“This is educational development I’ve been waiting for, so go ahead, I will hope and support according to my tasks and authourities,” he said followed with applause.

A. Djauhar Arifin then responded his statement. The 65 year old man explained that he has been trying to develop Gresik for a while, he even had good relation with the last Gresik regent.

“I have been developing Gresik with the regent of Gresik. From the industrials, we do not only manage Gresik wealth, but also give benefits to the people,” he said. (*)
