BEM FEB Empower Coastal People Kenjeran with Action for Nation

UNAIR NEWS – Student Executive Board (BEM) Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga has held another Economic Week (E-week),  a series of activities at the end of its stewardship in collaboration with ormawa (other student organizations) in FEB. One of the activities was social action.

It was very crowded. Coastal community of Kenjeran, Sukolilo Baru Village, Bulak Sub-district, Surabaya, crowded Bulak Fish Center from early morning. They got health care and a variety of counseling about entrepreneurship on Friday, October 17.

Nadira explained, the activity titled ” Action for Nation ” was aimed to improve the welfare of coastal community in Kenjeran as well as to expand the market and processed quality while providing guidance to the community there.

The activity was held together with Rumah Zakat to conduct free health checks, from cholesterol, blood sugar, until uric acid check-ups. The services provided by the officers of Rumah Zakat made the community very happy. The officer, thoroughly, listened to the complaints of the residents.

In addition to the health check , there was a product marketing counsel titled “Offline and Online Effective Marketing System for UKM and Easy Way to Innovate”. Yetty Dwi Lestari as the speaker explained the marketing techniques through online system .

For example, social media is currently considered very practical. The counseling was attended by representatives of small and medium enterprises (UKM) in Kenjeran area such as supported and Bunda UKM.

“Hopefully this couseling can be applied daily by UKM in Kenjeran area. So, this can improve the processed products, “said Nadira Hutapea of the committee in the event.

Sosact Competition

Peak activity on Saturday, October 18 enlivened with a competition and holly powder party. The kids assisted by the Student Teaching Community (KPM) Surabaya conducted various contests, from racing sacks with helmets, blowing glasses, to moving flour in SD Muhammadiyah 9 Bahari, Kenjeran. With gunny sacks of about the size of a body, they raced to the finish line.

In addition, prizes were given to the most active kids during social action activities Then, each of them wrote their hopes for the future and flown with balloons. Like a small dream for parents, ideals, even hope for beloved village.

Holly powder party added hype to the 2017 Social Action  this time, colorful powders are sown while they dance together. Social action runs for 15 weeks. Nadya Pramesti of the committee, hoped that younger siblings can benefit from what has been given by the committee, volunteers , and the communities involved. (*)
