UNAIR NEWS – Nano technology expert was invited by Student Executive Board (BEM) of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universitas Airlangga, on Saturday, October 28 in Kahuripan Hall 3rd floor of Campus C UNAIR . The expert who became one of the speakers in a technology seminar titled Science Technology Event (STE) 2017 was Prof. Andrivo Rusydi, Ph.D.
“We actually never thought would be able to invite him as he is an Indonesian physics scientist and an expert in the field of nanotechnology on a global level, “said the Head of STE 2017 Committee Angga Puspo Adi Negoro, student of the Statistics Class 2015.
“He has published 1,784 scientific articles since 2012. And, there are 2,676 scientific articles of his, “said Dr. Nurina Fitriani, ST, as the moderator in the opening of the discussion in the seminar.
There was also another expert in the event, a Research Coordinator at Purwodadi Botanical Garden, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Sugeng Budiharta, S.Hut., M.Sc., Ph.D. Sugeng presented materials on research, from type, stage, result, until the role and function of research.
Airlangga Orchestra’s performance started the technology seminar. It was attended by 119 participants. The seminar entitled “Basic and Scientific Application for Enhancing the Quality of Life ” ran quite lively. There was a good discussion between the participants and the speakers.
The participants were not only from UNAIR. There were participants from University of Surabaya (Ubaya), National Development University (UPN) “Veteran” Surabaya, Jember University (Unej), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa), and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS).
Meanwhile, Angga explained that STE is an annual event held to commemorate anniversary of FST. “In 2017, in addition to the theme that was carried and the participants from foreign universities, STE 2017 activities are different,” he said.
In STE 2017, there was a Research Products Expo Faculty of Science and Technology. Several products from students and lecturers were exhibited, such as Piooner, Bionic Arm, Stevity, Test Kit, i-Humble, and Coco Mask. The Director of Student Affairs UNAIR Dr. Hadi Subhan, SH, MH, CN; public relations LIPI Purwodadi Roni Permana Saputra; Dr. Hartati, Dra., M.Si .; and UNAIR physics lecturer Febdian Rusydi, ST, Ph.D were also present in the occasion.
In the end, regarding the technology seminar, Angga hoped the participants realized the importance of research and they are interested and motivated to do more. The discovery of great technology must begin with long and continuous research.
