UNAIR NEWS – Berau Regency Government, East Kalimantan, has established a partnership with Universitas Airlangga in education, research and community service. The signing session of the cooperation took place in Rector’s Meeting Room on Friday, November 24, which was attended by the Vice Regent of Berau with the officials of UNAIR.
Vice Regent of Berau, Agus Tantomo, stated that there are several aspects to be developed in Berau with the assistance of UNAIR. For example, the areas of tourism, plantations, and agriculture.
“We want to develop these fields to have added value,” said Agus.
In the discussion session, it was revealed that Berau was not interested to participate in building universities. To develop the quality of human resources in Berau, it is enough for them to send their human resources to study or follow trainings at leading universities such as in UNAIR.
“We expect cooperation in the fields of education, training, and study tasks. We also want to send our civil state apparatus (ASN), employees who want to improve their skills, ” he said.
Agus added that Berau never cooperates with UNAIR, only with the research center. His regency hoped the cooperation can be realized immediately.
“I hope this cooperation will benefit both sides. There must be an immediate realization, “he said.
Institutional cooperation
Meanwhile, Secretary of the University, Koko Srimulyo hoped that cooperation can be realized well and the goal can be realized. In the occasion, he stressed that the cooperation was institutional, in accordance with the procedures at UNAIR.
According to him, there are some cooperations that were used by certain parties for individual interest.
“Because, this MoU is institutional, then the next activities should involve the institutions. I regret that some MoUs were used for individual interests only, “said Koko.
“We hope, if working with UNAIR, the letter is institutionalized. So, this institution can find expert staff that suits their needs, ” he added. (*)
