Cooperating with UNAIR, Kemkominfo Introduces Prepaid Card Policy

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga was trusted by the Ministry of Communication and Information Republic of Indonesia (Kemkominfo-RI) to host the dissemination event and Prepaid Card Registration Clinic which was held on Thursday, February 22.

Being held at Kahuripan 300, 3rd floor Kahuripan, Campus C UNAIR, the event was opened directly by the Vice Rector IV UNAIR, Junaidi Khotib, S.Si., M.Kes., Ph.D., Apt. In his opening speech, Junaidi said the university was very grateful for being trusted to host such an important activity.

“Hopefully, the dissemination of this policy will be able to improve the security aspects of incoming and outgoing information. In addition, hopefully at this event the participants will know how to register, the facilities and communication systems that are applied in Indonesia, “said Junaidi.

General Director of Post and Information Technology (PPI) – Kemkominfo, Prof. Dr. Ahmad M. Ramli, who attended the occasion, said that the prepaid card policy was due to the many people who threw away the SIM card. So, the generated level is high.

“This program requires registration of prepaid cards with Identity Number (NIK) and Family Card Number (KK). The data of each user must be valid and correct. There are about 40 cases of fraud without knowing the identity of the person, “he explained.

The event was followed with a Q&A session moderated by Sutrisman, Executive Director of Association of Telecommunications Providers throughout Indonesia (ATSI). Sutrisman presented two speakers, from Indonesian Telecommunication Regulatory Board, Agung Harsono and ATSI General Chairman and CEO of Cellular Operator in Indonesia, Merza Fachys.

As the first speaker, Agung explained that the policy was done for the sake of convenience and security, to know who actually communicating in case there is a fraud.

“From this policy, the government can provide direct assistance to citizens through cell phone numbers and bank facilities with special methods through the number. It cannot be done when the data is not valid and clear “explained Agung.

Then, Mirza added that the policy invited a lot of questions voiced by the people of Indonesia, ranging from technical to non technical issues. At the end of the session, Merza clarified more thoughts about the concerns of NIK data owned by the government.

“Do not worry about our NIK and KK. It is safe. Therefore, register immediately before 28 February, “explained Merza.
