UNAIR NEWS – To monitor and evaluate the implementation of World Class University program, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) officials held a meeting with the evaluating team of General Directorate Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti). It was held in Plenary Room, on Friday August 12.

Dikti’s delegates were Prof. Hermawan and Prof. Wawan of Institut Teknologi Bandung. UNAIR officials attending were Rektor UNAIR Prof. Nasih, Wakil Rektor IV UNAIR Junaidi Khotib, Head of Planning and Development Division (BPP) Badri Munir Sukoco, and other high ranked officials.

In his address Prof. Hermawan said that the monitoring was done to see UNAIR performance in using WCU budget about 10 billion a year. “We want to make sure that the fund is absorbed well. So if there is a request to increase the budget next year, we can approve it,” said Prof. Hermawan.

Prof. Hermawan said that UNAIR is one of the universities which is expected to be a world class university like Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Prof. Hermawan also added that UNAIR has great potentials to be a world class university. But, UNAIR has not been exposed for its excellent achievements. He hoped that UNAIR academicians can be the driving force as well as the brand image of Indonesian universities in global scope.

After that, there was an elaboration from the Head of BPP. He said that to improve quality and UNAIR’s rank, programs have been delegated to related work units.

Such as to improve UNAIR readings in the internet, the task is delegated to Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) UNAIR. For digitalization, UNAIR library has a repository page. To improve Scopus indexed research publication, Scientific Journals Publication and Development Center (PPJPI) has routinely held workshops on journal composition and guidance for researchers to publish the journals.

Badri also added that for internationalization, UNAIR has Airlangga Global Talent to attract world class practitioners from the government or non-government parties. (*)
