UNAIR NEWS – Five students of Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Airlangga took part in a paper competition held in Hokkaido Japan. The competition was held by Indonesian Student Association (PPI) Hokkaido. The students were Nurhayati Ika Novitasari, Indy Mumtaza, Fayruz Aquila, Novesia, dan Lia Fatmawati.
The scientific forum was titled Hokkaido Indonesian Student Association Scientific Meeting (HISAS) held on 18-19 March, in Hokkaido, Japan. The theme was Indonesian Sustainable Development Goals : Change and Challenges For a Better Future.
“At first we were just trying. We want to participate for Students Creativity Program (PKM). But because we missed the due date for submission, we finally made a paper and submitted it to HISAS,” said Indy, one of the delegates.
There were two papers presented by the delegates of FF, Smart Test Indicator of Toxic Heavy Metals (Hg, Cd, and Pb) Using Dithizone Reagent for Rapid Detection in Fish Samples presented by Nurhayati and Effervescence Application of Aedes Aegypti Larvicide by Microencapsulated Lemongrass Oil as Sustainable Abate Alternative presented by Fayruz.
Before they presented the papers, the delegates must follow the seminar presented by Dr. Maria Stefanie D., a researcher from Faculty of Agriculture Hokkaido University, and Dr. Shuji Tamamura from Japan Research Institute for Subsurface Environment. After the seminar they presented their papers.
There are five clusters in the competition, Health and Life Science, Innovation of Technology; Agriculture, Sustainable Environment and Renewable Energy, Social and Human Science. Fayruz made an excellent achievement as she was chosen as the Best Presenter.
“It is a positive energy for UNAIR, as this achievement made UNAIR gain reputation at international level as university with excellent researches and capability to compete internationally,” said Faza, one of the delegates. (*)
