UNAIR NEWS – Andi Fadly Arifuddin, a vocalist better known as Fadly Padi, was glad that he could visit and share his experience with his alma mater students. This time 1998 UNAIR alumnus did not share his musical experience, but he shared on his activities as the activist of urban farming.

Fadly told the audiences that UNAIR is a suitable campus to improve our studies, academically or non-academically.  In Development Economics program of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), there were a lot of great experiences he had with his friends.

He could not forget how in UNAIR he improved his non-academic interest and met his friends from Padi.

“It was fun. At that time, UNAIR was so lively, with extra-curricular activities and fun classes. I got the knowledge and never ending activities in Campus, especially on Music,” he recalled.

In FE (FEB at that time), he met Ari Bernardus Lasso, better known as Ari Lasso. FE UNAIR canteen was his favorite place to hang out with friends interested in Music. At that time, there were a lot of popular musical events among the students such as musik lorong and musik kantin.

“There was musik parker, musik lorong. It was the best. And we didn’t have meetings in classroom but in canteen,” he said with a laugh.

For him, Surabaya is the best place to play music as well as improve academic potentials. So is UNAIR. He could finish his study as well as realized his dream in music. He also shared his story on how he could be active in music and at the same time finished his study with GPA 3.3.

At the moment, beside focusing on music, Fadly is also an activist of urban farming specialized in aquaponic. He is often invited to give urban farming training at schools or the retirement house.

He said that with his new group, Musikimia, he just got an award from Singapore as the best band with the best song in four countries, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and Indonesia.

In the occasion, he encouraged UNAIR students to develop their interests and talents. Non academic achievements are also important. “Be the pride of UNAIR. Work hard as our legacy is made through knowledge we share and works we create. That is our legacy,” he said. (*)
