UNAIR NEWS – Keeping the spirits and doing the best are principles of Ayu Kustini, the best graduate of Faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga in the graduation of December 2017. Her thesis was titled  “Analysis of Work Posture and Complaints Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in Assembling Unit 1 Plant 2 PT. Indospring Tbk. Gresik “and Ayu was graduated with 3.92 GPA.
She chose the title because the human resources of vehicle spare parts manufacturing company are vulnerable to health problems because they work manually in the assembling area. Many workers complain of musculoskeletal pain– in the waist, hands and feet, and their low back. From the data gathered, Ayu can map the parts of body which are at risk to musculoskeletal disorders.
“These findings will help companies to prevent it quickly and appropriately, so that the disorder does not become severe,” said the woman born in Gresik August 23, 1995.
Her final task completion was not always smooth especially when Ayu had to do the internship activities at the company in Gresik. Initially, her proposal was accepted by SHE (Safety Health Environment) in the company. But midway, she did not get the permission to document and collect the data for the title of her thesis.
“I looked for different title again and resubmitted my proposal back and I handed it directly to the manager of K-3 with all the limitations of data that we agreed,” said Ayu, alumna of SMA Cerme 2014.
Finally, her proposal was accepted although it was quite difficult to get the data. “When you can manage time and priorities, what you want to achieve can be achieved. When we always do our best, time will give the best as well, “said Ayu ended. (*)
