UNAIR NEWS – Information on SNMPTN or SBMPTN is important for senior high school students who want to continue study to higher education. But, not all students are well acquainted with the information. Thus, Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) and Student Admission Center (PPMB) Universitas Airlangga are present to provide information and consults about higher education study.
This time, publicization was held at SMA N 1 Surabaya on Sunday, February 28. The speakers were Drs. Suko Widodo, M.Si as the Head of PIH UNAIR and Drs. Adri Supardi, MS., of PPMB UNAIR.
“In reality there are many students in Surabaya confused with SNMPTN information. Therefore, PIH was invited to give explanation,” Suko said.
Publicization was for the students, teachers, and parents as considerations to choose and determine the continuity of the students’ study.
“Attendees were pleased with PIH and PPMB UNAIR presence. Even parents and students are invited to consult with UNAIR to get the correct information,” said the lecturer of UNAIR Communications program.
In its presentation, Adri from PPMB explained general information about UNAIR in details, the profile, history, faculty, program, facilities, achievements and other information. Adri also elaborated the capacity of UNAIR through many ways of admission such as SNMPTN, SBMPTN and Independent.
There were two main factors on why students are not admitted in the university, student index and school index. Student index includes the test of students every semester, softskill ability, also achievements. School index is seen from the school achievements and alumni.
“Every year, UNAIR receives about 5,600 new applicants. . So keep studying hard to be admitted, and don’t forget to pray,” Adri said , a lecturer from Physics Department, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNAIR.
Students’ enthusiasms were seen during the event. As a form of response to the speakers, students took turn asking. Arifin, a student from science class asked about tips to be admitted in the expected campus.
In this occasion, one of the parents attended also asked. Salam, one of UNAIR Faculty of Medicine alumni expressed his experience when he was in UNAIR responding to students and teachers’ anxiety.
The headmaster of SMAN 1 Surabaya, Johanes Mardijono, S.Pd, MM., said that the event was needed by teachers, students and parents. Schools also hold try-outs for national exam and SNMPTN at schools. He said the event was important as a form of school’s responsibility to its students’ future.
“We have many students with great achievements. Hopefully, they get the right place after this school,” Johanes said. (*)
