UNAIR NEWS – Twice participating in the contest, twice becoming champion. With confidence, Nurun Nujum, student of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga tries her luck in modeling even with a little experience and skills.

Recently Nujum managed to win a contest of Princess Auleea 2017 election, a talent search event managed by Fatayat NU East Java. She did not expect to win from dozens of other contestants from various regions in East Java.

Walking on the catwalk is not part of her routines. Every day, the woman born on March 8, 1997 is preoccupied with lectures which are currently at the sixth semester.

“I did not have an intention to participate at first, but my mother offered me and after I believe it did not disturb my schedule at college, I said okay,” she said.

During the selection process, Nujum and dozens of other participants were quarantined at Bumi Shalawat Progressive School Sidoarjo for two days. The participants were assessed from their discipline, attitude, and interviews, knowledge on NU, Arabic reciting and writing tests.

“Got nervous in the final round, as I competed with the models. But I am confident. As long as I participate, win or lose is something else later on, ” she said.

Previously, Nujum had also won such a contest while still in high school. The alumna of SMA Negeri 1 Kedungwaru, Tulungagung Regency won the contest of Akhi-Ukhti Selection as a class representative.

“At that time I had no experience, so a designer and my sister who happened to join modeling extracurricular taught me the techniques to walk on the catwalk before ,” she recalled.

From the beginning, Nujum was not interested in modeling. She admitted that she felt inferior among other models who were more beautiful and ideal. She also had doubts going to college.

“At first I did not want to be a doctor as well, as I was afraid of syringes and I believed the study would be hard. But thanks to the support of my mother, I settled into medicine, ” she said.

Her perspective was also changed on how to look at an opportunity. According to her opportunity will not come twice, so do not miss it.

“Do not be afraid to try, while there is a chance. Be confident with yourself and ask for the blessing of your parents. Insha Allah it will be achieved, “he said.

Although there is wide opportunity for her to the world of modeling, Nujum preferred to focus on her education this time.

“I prefer to be a doctor, because it is my passion. This profession Insha Allah will make me more useful for society. I can treat and cure the patients, “said this student class of 2015.

As a medical student, Nujum is quite active in UNAIR Center for Indonesian Medical Students’ Activities (CIMSA) organization. In the organization she is trusted as a treasurer.

“My target this year is to finish my research. And after graduation, I want to continue further to specialist education. But I haven’t decided, plastic surgery, genital skin, or urology specialist, ” she said.

After winning the contest, the woman who likes eating chicken soup felt not much has changed from her. She has to manage her time for photo session and talk shows.

“A photo session will be okay as long as it does not interfere with college schedule,” said the first child of three siblings.

About facial treatments, the beautiful and calm woman does not do much. In order to look healthy and natural, Nujum share tips to be more diligent in cleaning clean the face and do facemask treatment. Regular use of masks at least twice a week will be very effective for skin health care.

“I prefer to use the Korean skin care treatment, or use a fruit mask. The skin becomes much more supple and glowing , “she said. (*)
