UNAIR NEWS – As an effort to support UNAIR’s step towards the Top 500 world campus, various UNAIR academicians continue to make breakthroughs. One of them is by increasing scopus-indexed publications through international conferences. In this regard, the Faculty of Nursing (FKp), Universitas Airlangga, held 9th International Conference on Saturday-Sunday, April 7-8.
With a theme of “Nurses at the Forefront Transforming Care, Science, and Research”, the conference featured speakers from La Trobe University Australia, University College Cork Ireland, and various renowned universities in Indonesia.
Representing the Rector, Vice Rector I Universitas Airlangga  Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM., in his opening remarks said that nursing is a dynamic profession and science. Prof. Djoko said that it can be seen from the contribution made through the science and practice.
“Innovation is also possible through education, practice, and research,” he said.
Meanwhile, interviewed during the event, Dean FKp UNAIR Prof. Dr. Nursalam, M.Nurs (Hons)., said that nurses should have sensitivity to health problems. Therefore, he added, in the era of globalization nurses must improve competence and knowledge, services, and systems.
For that reason, through an international conference that has been held since 2009, Prof. Nursalam hoped that the quality of students and lecturers can improve continuously in learning, research, and practice in the field.
“In addition, in this conference, we are able to update the theories and continue to improve the quality of research and service practices,” he said. “We hope that this conference can be held continuously and useful for students and partners. And most importantly,  quality of nurses and nursing world in Indonesia can be more advanced, “he added.
At the end, Dr. Esti Yunitasari, S.Kep., M.Kes., as the chairman of the event said that the conference involving 255 participants, lecturers and students from within and outside the country will be able to stimulate scientific publications within the faculty and students.
“In addition, we also hope that the results of this international conference can be indexed by scopus,” he said. “Because it is our main goal,” he concluded.
