Showing Respect to Lecturers and Sincerity

UNAIR NEWS – Being busy with teaching and researching did not lessen the spirit of Roihatul Muti’ah to complete her doctoral program of pharmaceutical Studies Universitas Airlangga. In fact, she successfully appointed as the best graduate with  3.83 GPA. She is a lecturer of various Pharmacy  undergradute courses in UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. She is also a department secretary.

In her dissertation research, Roihatul addressed the issue of the discovery of anticancer active compounds from widuri plants (Calotropis gigantean). Given, until now the treatment of cancer through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation has not been effective in combating cancer. This research is the first step of development of phytopharmaca product, especially as anticancer agent.

“I feel the development of the ideal anticancer drug is very important to be encouraged, especially those that have high efficacy and are specific to target cells while being safe in patients,” she explained.

Roihatul also claimed to have various challenges and obstacles, but they do not matter. This is because the atmosphere of a conducive learning environment and the role of professional supervisors assisting.

The woman born in Malang, February 3, 1980 is somewhat active in conducting research and publications. Since 2010, she has published 24 publications, both national and international reputable journals.

One of Roihatul researches titled “Activity of Antimalarial Compounds from Ethyl Acetate Fraction of Sunflower Leaves (Helianthus annuus L.) against Plasmodium falciparum Parasites 3D7 Strain” was recently published in the Asian Journal of Pharmacy and Technology [AJPTech].

“My study is a tool to explore and develop the knowledge to be insights to teach to my students. Demanding knowledge requires sincerity, istiqomah, and respect the lecturers, ” said the woman who is also the mother of three children. (*)
