SNMPTN and SBMPTN Bidikmisi Freshmen First Briefing

UNAIR NEWS – The Directorate of Student Affairs and Airlangga University Bidikmisi Organization (AUBMO) provides a briefing to freshmen who receive Bidikmisi scholarship from SNMPTN and SBMPTN.

The event, which was packed with a motivational and briefing event, was held in Soetandyo Hall Building C FISIP on Saturday, November 4. It was done in two sessions. The first session, starting at 06.30 WIB, was attended by students who receive bidikmisi scholarship from FIB, FPK, FKH, FK, FKG, FKp, and FISIP. Meanwhile, the second session was attended by students who receive the bidikmisi from FST, FKM, Fpsi, FEB, and FF held at 11.30.

In the event, the bidikmisi recipients were given an explanation about the problems faced by bidikmisi freshmen and the solution. The presentation was delivered by staff of Directorate of Student Affairs Wahyu Kartiko. According to Wahyu, some problems faced by bidikmisi freshmen are inactive bank accounts, lost bank accounts, and lost savings books and ATM cards.

“I remind the freshmen to ignore the offer for an insurance program. Reflecting on previous experience, the insurance company just take their money without benefits for the students, “explained Wahyu.

The students also got motivation from a lecturer UNAIR Taufan Bramantoro drg., M.Kes.  Taufan encouraged the freshmen to remember their first moments in UNAIR.

“Remember the burning spirit at the beginning of your admission here. Remember your early goals here and your parents who always pray when you lose the spirit during your study, “he explained.

The lecturer of the Faculty of Dental Medicine UNAIR also added that if students only go to college and then go home to study, it is not right. On the other hand, he added, if the students are too focused with the organizations and neglect their study, it is also wrong.

“There must be balance between studies and organizations because besides the hard skill, soft skill  is also necessary after the graduation later,” he said.

Furthermore, Taufan also asserted that life on campus is very different from life at school. At school, according to him, teachers still pay attention to them. In college life, according to him, students’ presence or absence are not considered, because the lecturer is also a professional.

“Be grateful for what it is and live your life with enthusiasm because no one knows God’s scenario. If what we face now is not the best thing for us, we will not possibly live it now, ” he asserted.

In the end of the conversation, Taufan told the students to look for solutions when they have problems, they should not look for someone to blame.
