UNAIR NEWS – For its 63 years of existence, many have given input as well as hope for Universitas Airlangga, including the tenth rector who served from 1997-2001, Prof. H. Soedarto, dr., DTM & H., Ph.D. In his arrival at Dies Natalis assembly on Friday, November 10, the rector born in 1943 expressed his wishes and hopes for the progress of UNAIR.
Prof. Darto admitted that there have been many changes since he served as rector. Both on the development of faculties and the development on the mindset of lecturers and students.
“The progress is very fast compared to the period 1997-2001, especially at international level. I think it is tailored to the needs of the people in Indonesia. The students also have a very high idealism, as seen from the various achievements, “said Prof. Darto.
The professor from Faculty of Medicine UNAIR said that one thing UNAIR must do is the development of the curriculum as the science always develops.
“Science always advances, curriculum must always be adjusted, even after five years, it should be revised and improved,” he said.
However, international efforts must continue to be improved. Considering, the competition of human resources in Indonesia is not only at national level, but also international level.
The professor who had served as Vice Rector I UNAIR from 1993-1997 hoped that UNAIR could develop the location of the campus owned. Its learning process is not only done in Surabaya but also penetrated other cities potential to be developed.
Prof. Darto hoped that UNAIR will adapt to the development times, both the development at national and international level.
“It is important how we adapt to national and international developments. So this university became an area where scientists can develop themselves freely and well, ” he concluded. (*)
