UNAIR NEWS –  “UNAIR NEWS must continue to be news, new, and mak nyus “. It was the statement of UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., when he was asked about his impressions for the second anniversary of media that provides information about UNAIR to public. Prof. Nasih also emphasized that in the future UNAIR NEWS is expected to continue to retain good reputation of UNAIR at national and even international scene.

“Hopefully UNAIR NEWS continues to provide information about UNAIR and Indonesia, especially useful information for the community,” he said.

The professor of Faculty of Economics and Business also added that the role of UNAIR NEWS as a media portal of UNAIR should gain more recognition. Prof. Nasih stressed that the information about UNAIR in the future should be consumption for the global community.

“In the future UNAIR information presented in UNAIR NEWS should be consumption for all. This is our effort to provide information and spread usefulness, “said the 13th UNAIR Rector during the second anniversary of UNAIR NEWS on Friday, December 29.

The Spirit of Change

It was all started with the determination and passion to change. Along with the development of media, the need for online news media is deemed necessary, especially when news needed to be streamed quickly and accurately. That was the statement from Dr. Suko Widodo, M.Si., as head of Center for Information and Public Relations (PIH) of Universitas Airlangga, when asked about the beginning of UNAIR NEWS.

Exactly on December 30, 2015, as an online news portal in Indonesia owned by higher education institutions, UNAIR NEWS did not appear at once. Suko said that at the beginning, there was careful preparation with spirits and commitment of all components, in PIH or all academic community of UNAIR.

“It was not easy to start an online news portals for a university. But it was the demand of times, “he explained. “And at that time, we thought that it was time for us to transform into digital along with the demand on information disclosure,” he added.

The political communication expert also hoped that the media can be a stepping-stone to changes in the pattern of communications media in UNAIR environment. Since the birth of UNAIR NEWS,  information about the 63-year-old university is more visible.

“Two years of UNAIR NEWS hopefully can be a real inspiration and promote changes on UNAIR and public information disclosure,” he said.
