UNAIR NEWS – Activities to enliven “Ulul ‘Azmi” mosque in Campus C Universitas Airlangga Jl. Mulyorejo Surabaya, are increasing and show positive synergy. Since being officially opened on Friday, May 27, 2016 by the head of Alumni Association UNAIR, it holds various activities every day, especially in Ramadhan this year. There are activities like prayers congregation, Friday prayer, sermon after noon prayer, iftar and salat tarawih with its sermon.
In the dawn prayers, there are also many people in congregation. It was stated by Agoes Widiastono through WhatsApp Group of the mosque management, there are more than one row of congregation and on Sunday there are even more people. The mosque management feels grateful for it as in Campus C there are only a female dorm and a hospital. There are no housing or residences of civitas academica.
“Alhamdulillah… Dawn prayer this morning was more than a shof,” wrote Cak Agoes “Awo”, on Tuesday, June 21. Some people who pray in this new mosque were lecturers, employees and students also the locals or people who attend their family in the hospital.
Then, after noon prayer, in Ramadhan this year, there is a brief sermon by some officials of UNAIR or from religious leaders invited specially for the prayer. On Monday, there is a sermon by KH. Abdurrahman Navis, Lc., M.HI., Advisor of Ponpes Nurul Huda Surabaya and head of fatwa unit MUI Jatim. On Tuesday was by Prof. Dr. Moch. Amin Alamsyah, on Wednesday by Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, SH., MCN., on Thursday by Drs. H. Suherman Rosyidi, while Friday was specially invited to give sermon in Friday prayers.

The mosque becomes livelier toward maghrib or dusk prayer as it is time for iftar. As the lamps in the garden or lights in the mosque ornaments turned on, the mosque looks even more beautiful and the people gather. They break their fasting then pray Maghrib and then have iftar together.
According to Agoes Widiastono, alumnus of FEB who reported this, the mosque management provide 400-500 meals as free iftar every day. Even when there were many guests from an event in Campus C, the management prepared 700 free iftar. This meals are organized by Student Executive Board (BEM) UNAIR.
”Alhamdulillah… The queue for iftar runs well and in order, yesterday we prepared 400 meals but they weren’t enough,” said Agoes on Monday.
Beside the activities of the mosque, the completion of the mosque construction is also continued, especially for the exterior, park and parking lot, and other parts of the mosque. (*)
