UNAIR Hosts “Anchor Hunt”

UNAIR NEWS – Anchor hunt was held at Universitas Airlangga on Wednesday, September 27. There were 37 participants competing in the event of Kompas TV and GIV Body Wash in collaboration with Universitas Airlangga.

Head of Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) UNAIR Suko Widodo welcomed well this collaboration. According to him, anchor hunt is good to accommodate students’ interest and talent in the world of mass communication.

“This event is great for accommodating the talents and interests of students in the world of broadcasting,” said the doctor of communications.

Suko added, for this cooperation the students can attend public speaking workshop held on Thursday, September 28. For him, this workshop will be very important for students to train their softskill.

“This kind of workshop is not taught in classes, except in the communication department. It becomes a very important science for students to hone softskill to communicate and speak in public, “added Suko.

Interviewed after the audition, Afifah Nurrosyida, one of the 37 anchor hunt participants, said that despite her background as an engineering student, she has an interest in mass communication as well as a reporter.

“I’m an engineering student, so I never taught of public speakingBut I have an interest in this field. Here, I want to know the challenges from a news anchor and reporter, “said the student who has been an announcer in Radio UNAIR.

Meanwhile, Stella Eidelina as the person in charge of the event said, this event was aimed to support the talent of young people in the field of public relations (PR).

“We want to introduce Giv Body Wash as well. PR and appearance are one. Appearance should be supported from personal hygiene, “Stella said.

In addition to appearance, this audition targeted students with good grammatical qualifications, especially in the field of anchors. “We want to support the achievement of young people in the anchor field, this field can be occupied then after college,” she said.

From the 37 participants auditioning, the best 10 will perform again on Thursday, September 28. Three winners will be picked from the 10 best finalists. In addition to Surabaya held at UNAIR, this event is also held in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Medan. (*)
