UNAIR Ready to Host the Forum of Eleven Universities’ Board of Trustees

UNAIR NEWS – Preparation for hosting Communication Forum Assembly in Universitas Airlangga Management Office on March 17-18, 2016 was almost complete by Tuesday, March 15. UNAIR is ready to host an assembly of board of trustees from eleven state universities acting as legal entity (PTNBH) in Indonesia.

In a preparation meeting presided by the secretary of UNAIR Board of Trustees, Iman Prihandono, SH., MH., LLM., all division expressed their readiness, protocols of picking up the  eleven delegations, the opening ceremony, the assembly room with its instruments, accommodation, refreshments and other preparations.

”It will be opened by UNAIR chief of Board of Trustees, Bapak Sudi Silalahi,” said Iman Prihandono, who is also the secretary of Academic Senate of UNAIR.

According to the data on the delegations, five rectors from eleven universities acting as legal entity (PTN-BH) have confirmed participation. Other than UNAIR Rector, they were UGM Rector, IPB Rector, UPI Rector, and UNHAS Rector.

As published before, the assembly will be attended by Board of Trustees from eleven PTN-BH in Indonesia. There are seven universities established as PTN-BH at first, Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). Then followed with the other four, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Universitas Pajajaran (UNPAD), and Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS).

On the first day of the forum, Thursday, March 17 there will be 4 sessions. First session discussed about “Government Supports in University Developments to World Class University,” with two keynote speakers from Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education and Ministry of Finance and MWA UNAIR secretary as the moderator.

“Policy Direction of National Higher Education and the Strategic Roles of PTN-BH” was discussed in the second session by two speakers from Bappenas and Commission X DPR RI, and the moderator was the secretary or the deputy of MWA IPB.  Third session discussed about “Peran MWA in realizing Good University Governance PTN BH” with four speakers from MWA UNAIR, MWA IPB, MWA ITB and MWA USU (Universitas Sumatera Utara). The session will be hosted by a moderator from MWA UGM. Fourth session will discuss the effort on “Raising Public Supports for Healthy Finances of PTN-BH” with speakers from MWA UI and MWA UGM and MWA USU as the moderator.

“On the second day, after the team has formulated the draft for joint communiqué from eleven universities, they will hold a press conference and release the results. Then the closing ceremony can be started,” said Iman Prihandono.

Iman answered a question from Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) that during the forum assembly, press or journalists are given freedom to cover the event as long as they apply journalism ethics and standards and coordinated with PIH officials. (*)
