UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga gives appreciation and supports to hoax test application named OPINIUM. The OPINIUM app allows users to test the authenticity of news in the Internet. In UNAIR, the dissemination was attended by officials, lecturers, employees, students, media, as well as the community. The event was held at Hall of Amerta, Management Office, Campus C UNAIR, Friday, May 4.

In that event, the Rector of UNAIR Prof. Nasih expressed his appreciation for the initiation of OPINIUM application. The application is expected to be a way that can filter the information in circulation. Representing UNAIR academicians, Rector conveyed many thanks for the existence of the application.

All things that require public response and participation, can be uploaded and discussed through OPINIUM. Lecturers and academics who have competence in each field can use the application. Therefore, he said, OPINIUM can present the work of academics to the public.

“OPINIUM, can encourage people or information seekers to read more comprehensively. So we should give the developers highest appreciation, “said Prof. Nasih.

Although being disseminated in UNAIR, FEB UNAIR professor hoped, OPINIUM app can be introduced to a larger scale so it can be used by more members of society.

Meanwhile, Sabrang as OPINIUM initiator said, OPINIUM is a medium to information democracy. Everyone has the right to speak, but everyone is also entitled to judge other users.

“So there will be interaction (in OPINIUM, ed). It will filter the users itself, the serious, reliable and and helpful ones, “said Noe.

Noe revealed that OPINIUM came into existence due to the great flow of information circulating without certain base. Primarily, the information is circulated through social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, and chat apps.

Currently, the new OPINIUM is available in android version. The iOS version and website are under development. After a month on playstore, OPINIUM has been downloaded by 1,500 users.
