Viva Outer Division, A Difference from PPKMB UNAIR Banyuwangi

UNAIR NEWS – The current program of campus orientation is different from the previous campus orientation with physical and mental treatments. They have worried the freshmen and their parents.

It is highlighted in the memo of Ministry Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristek DIKTI) through the decree of General Directorate of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) Number 25/DIKTI/Kep/2014 on General guidelines on Campus Orientation for Freshmen.

It has been implemented by Universitas Airlangga PDD Banyuwangi. In Academic Year of 2016-2017, Beyond Domicile Program (PDD) UNAIR Banyuwangi received 175 freshmen. They have been through same admission and orientation process like in Surabaya in PPKMB.

But there is something different from this, it is called Viva Outer Division activity or VOD, for short, as special orientation for PDD UNAIR Banyuwagi, held in Saturday, September 3. This activity did not only introduce the campus and the educational system, but also built the students’ characters and integrity.

“UNAIR doesn’t only produce excellent graduates in academic, but it is also expected to be excellent in social enforcement. SO freshmen have to know how to behave and ironically this good value or attitude is wearing off among the youth,” said the Head of PDD UNAIR Banyuwangi student family, Hendri Arya Fernando.

“Therefore, intensive guidance and supervision is needed in the freshmen’s orientation, especially in PDD UNAIR Banyuwangi,” added Hendri, the native student of Banyuwangi to UNAIR NEWS. (*)
