UNAIR NEWS – “The anniversary celebration of Information and Library Science Student Association this year was different from the previous years”. It was stated by Muhammad Aziz Nurfata, as the Head of Information and Library Science Student Association (HIMA) UNAIR during interview.
As the youngest program at Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UNAIR, the 14-year-old program IIP will be celebrating the anniversary by holding a high school essay writing competition with the theme “Critical Intelligent Indonesia Students through the Development of Information towards Sustainable Development Goals 2013” and writing talkshow with the theme “Bright Future by Writing” .
The essay writing competition, which was conducted online for the last two weeks, brought in 10 finalists who have passed the selection to presents their works in front of the judges.
As the opening of Semi final of Forsta Airlangga Essay Competition, Helmy Prasetyo Yuwinanto S.Sos., M.KP as a lecturer of Information Science and Library on behalf of the Head of IIP Department said that the department was proud of HIMA IIP who was able to contribute to the community by holding the event.
“The purpose of this event is to make high school students be more productive again to read and write. Also to improve the culture of literacy that is now declining by the time, ” he said.
After the opening, one by one finalist of the essay contest presented their work in front of the judges, Meinia Prayesti S.IIP., MA, Iswanda Fauzan Satibi, S.Hum, M.Com, and Ragil Tri Atmi S.IIP., MA. The judges as well as IIP lecturers provide value and input to the finalists who have presented their work.
Azwar Irhami IIP 2015 student and the head of the organizer said that the event was the first time organized by IIP students. Previously, HIMA only held an art performance held at the gallery of FISIP UNAIR.
“Reflecting from our previous activities, HIMA wanted to contribute to the community, so we created the essay competition concept and writing talkshow which will be held on November 4 “, said the chairman of the Committee.
From the 10 finalists of the essay contest, there were four winners. The committee announced 1st Winner was from SMAN 1 Sukodadi Lamongan, 2nd Winner was from SMAN 1 Sukodadi Lamongan, 3rd Winner was from SMAN 2 Lamongan, and the fouth was SMAN 1 Banyuwangi.
The writing talk show will be held on November 4, 2017 at the Kahuripan hall, Management Office Building Campus C and invite Pidi Baiq the author of Dilan Novel series as the speaker. There will be one of Tempo’s editors, and the Best Blogger of UNAIR.
“The talk show tomorrow will be exciting and crowded. Moreover, this already enter the third presale. If you miss it you will regret it “, said Azwar.
