UNAIR NEWS – 2017 Election of Outstanding Student (Pilmapres) Universitas Airlangga  is being organized. Like previous traditions, each faculty submits a name to compete at the university level.

Muhammad Reza A., a fifth semester student of Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNAIR, was elected as the faculty champion of 2017 Pilmapres. The result was announced directly by the Dean of FK UNAIR Prof. Dr. Soetojo, dr., SpU (K), in presence of seven candidates from FK UNAIR at Special Assembly Room of FK UNAIR, Thursday, October 26.

Reza outperformed Jefferson Caesario and Andi Yasmin Wijaya, other candidates, after a selection on Saturday, October 21. In the selection, the judges screened seven candidates in three rounds, the presentation of scientific papers, interviews in English, and psychotest.

This year, there are only seven candidates for FK Outstanding Student. There were four students in the third semester, and three in the fifth semester.

The Coordinator of Medical Faculty UNAIR Dr. Gadis Meinar Sari, dr., M.Kes assumed that the interest of students to follow the event was somewhat decreased compared to previous years.

“We hope next year more and more students will participate. And, the task of the winners this year is to invite their juniors to join pilmapres next year, “he said.

Before the selection, FK UNAIR held a School of Mawapres . In the forum, students are introduced to the pilmapres as well as how to follow it. Tips and tricks in order to pass the selection were presented there. There was also a testimonial session of FK students who have ever won the event.

In the end of his speech, Prof. Soetojo hoped Reza’s victory in the faculty was able to bring the name of FK UNAIR to the national level. “Keep it up, to win the national competition,” he said. (*)
