Improving Journal Publication by Inviting Professor from Malaysia

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga held a workshop on “How to Avoid Rejection Paper on High Impact Factor”. The workshop held in Leadership Meeting Room 2 on Wednesday, May 9 was conducted to improve the productivity of Faculty of Vocational Studies on indexed journals publication.

Indexed journal is a journal published by a particular publishing house. Indexed journals can be ascertained and have a clear structure of management.

Quoting Kompas on 28 February 2017, General Directorate of Higher Education uses Scopus index as reference of reputable international journal. With the help of Scopus , policymakers, rank appraisal committees, and incentive publishers are highly facilitated.

The workshop was attended by various faculty from the Department of Health, Business and Engineering. This activity was for the lecturers. The workshop was directed by Prof. Hamzah Bin Arof, Ph.D from the University of Malaya.

“Yes, we presented expert professors from the University of Malaya. So that the teaching staff assisted in writing scientific papers, “said Prof. Retna Apsari, Vice Dean I of Faculty of Vocational Studies.

Retna hoped that the arrival of Hamzah Bin Arof as a guiding professor managing  writing scientific articles can improve the faculty publications, especially in international journals indexed by Scopus as many citated from them.

Hamzah is a lecturer of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Malaya. He has published hundreds of international journals and has been indexed.

“In this workshop I hope there will be 50 works of the lecturers to be published in Scopus indexed journals,” said Retna.

Retna said that on 17 October, the 1 st International Conference on Vocational Innovation and Applied Sciences (ICVIAS) 2018 also present Hamzah Bin Arof as a speaker. She hoped that the publications could reach 150.

“I hope with the first adjunct professor in Faculty of Vocational Studies, the culture of researching and writing in the faculty will grow and develop in line with the ideals of World Class University (WCU) program of UNAIR,” said Retna. (*)
