“If others feel enough with textbooks or lecturer’s material, I learnt more from journals, library books, as well as other references,” said the woman who is also the lecturer’s assistant.

Mirna said that Javanese language had made her difficult to adapt. As a newcomer, he must build socialization and good relationships. Fortunately, it can be faced with supportive educational and social environment. “How can you understand, in campus, friends discuss with Javanese language. I do not know and understand at that time, “said the recipient of PT. Pupuk Kaltim (PKT) scholarship.

The emergence of hybrid grouper trends in fisheries, marine aquaculture, inspired her final assignment, on cantang grouper as hybrid grouper between tiger grouper (female) and giant grouper (male).

“I wrote a thesis entitled The First Stage Development of Larva Cantang Grouper Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × Epinephelus lanceolatus with Brachionus plicatilis Provision Enriched with Combination of Fish Oil and Squid Oil ,” he said.

Mirna wanted to reveal the development and growth of absolute length (L) of grouper larvae through T test with 2 treatments, with unbalanced enrichment of B. plicatilis (P0) and B. plicatilis with the enrichment of a combination of fish oil and squid oil (P1).

“Each treatment is repeated three times,” he said. As a result, B. plicatilis with enrichment can accelerate the length of cantang grouper larvae 3.27 ± 0.17 mm, especially spina dorsalis and spina ventralis  formed early on the seventh day (D-7).
