UNAIR NEWS – Medical students of Universitas Airlangga came out as the third winner in the event of Indonesia Medical Student Summit (IMSS) 2018 for Public Posters and Scientific Posters category. IMSS 2018 is an annual scientific competition organized by the Indonesian Medical Student Senate Association (ISMKI).
The competition held from 22 to 25 February was followed by more than 40 Faculty of Medicine in Indonesia who joined in ISMKI membership. In fact, for this Public Poster competition, FK UNAIR only send one team consisting of three students. While on Scientific Poster competition contest, FK UNAIR also sent a team with three members.
“It’s so cool , it’s so different compared to other competition,” said Zaha El-Ma’i, the head of one of the UNAIR FK delegation teams. “There, we met many delegates from ISMKI, Bapin, Presbem and BPN”, he continued.
In the Indonesia Medical Student Summit 2018 , the team of FK UNAIR sent some works such as ” KeCe, Know and Prevent Anemia in Pregnant Women” (Public Poster) by Zaha El-Ma’i, Muhammad Hanun Mahyudin and Ega Rischella.
There was also a poster titled “Hello Mom! Education Facilities for Nutritional Needs Assistance in Cell-Based, Communication and Innovative Mobile Pregnant Mothers “ (Scientific Poster) by Maria Marin Hutahuruk and Chabib Fachry Albab.
This year’s IMSS 2018 competition was held at Yarsi University, Jakarta, with a focus on medical science, especially in nutrition. So FK Yarsi University to host the implementation of IMSS 2018, with the theme “Implementation of Indonesia’s Health System Through Improved Balanced Nutrition”.

FK Student Experience
Besides participating in the competition, the students also have the opportunity to share knowledge about nutrition through panel discussion with some prominent figures. They also gained new friends in a similar field.
“I learned a lot from this panel discussion, both related to BPJS, malnutrition cases in Asmat, and much more. The message I remember most is ‘Asmat cannot be solved only with studies conducted in Jakarta, we have to go straight down,’ said Hanun, imitating one of the speakers in the panel discussion.
In the contest, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga team won third place in Public Poster competition, and third place in Scientific Poster competition.
“It’s great, it’s a blessing to be grateful for. We hope more friends will join this competition. For us, the race is not only a competition, but also a forum for sharing knowledge, “Zaha added. (*)
