UNAIR NEWS – A student of the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), has made another achievement at the international level. Az-Zahra Helmi Putri Rahayu has successfully won Best Delegate of Women Leadership and Education at the International Future Leaders Summit 2022.
During the interview with UNAIR NEWS on Monday, June 6, 2022, Zahra mentioned that the International Future Leaders Summit is a prestigious conference because delegates from various countries participate in the activity.
“That time, I was a delegate. The participants came from many countries. Even my group members came from China and Kazakhstan, so it was fun, and I could improve my open-mindedness,” she mentioned.
At the event, Zara continued, she chose an idea that focused on Women’s Leadership and Education. “For my idea, I emphasized on how to maximize the role of women in every aspect, for example, in the workplace or school,” she revealed.
Zahra stated that today there is still gender inequality between men and women. It could be seen in the political sector. Responding to this, Zahra added that some ways could be done to achieve gender equality, which could begin from family circle to school.
“For example, from the government, they could provide scholarships to sexual assault victims, And then the second one, perhaps should be started from the mindset, since elementary school, junior high school, to highschool, so the teachers supports children who become victims of sexual assaults, not blaming the child,” she stated.
Furthermore, Zahra continued that providing chances for women to be a leader in democracy is one way to equalize gender.
Happy with her achievement, Zahra hoped that the idea could be listened to by many parties and she could be the best delegate again in similar activities, improving her capabilities.
“Hopefully, later, when I participate in a similar competition, I could improve my ability in critical thinking and expressing opinions in English,” she concluded.
