UNAIR NEWS – Another tremendous achievement has been made by UNAIR student, Christin Chatrin Nebore. Christin was selected as a town hall participant in the Pre-Summit of Youth 20 (Y20) in Manokwari, West Papua. The International Relations student was excited about the theme of Pre-Summit, Diversity and Inclusion.

“The theme is closely related to inclusive education and the role of the youth in the creative economy. I myself focus on the youth leadership and the contributions of youth in policy-making,” said Christin.

The alumna of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) 2021 scholarship shared the details in Pre-Summit of Youth 20 (Y20). The event was started by the representatives of international delegations such as the World Bank, the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR), and other countries.

Christin and the other participants joined the focus group discussion (FGD). They will learn certain skills, such as negotiation techniques, diplomacy, and exchanging opinions. These skills are required in formulating the policy recommendations to be presented in front of Indonesian delegates at the Y20 Summit.

They also have an important role in national and regional developments.

She hoped that the recommendations could be used as the topic discussion at Y20 Summit to increase the opportunity for G20 world leaders to listen. Besides, she also aspired for the whole community, especially the marginalized ones like the disabled, cross-gender, ethnic, and people with HIV/AIDS, can be well-represented in the G20 celebration.

“Recover together, recover stronger carries the meaning of inclusivity that reaches the grassroots. Pentahelix relations between the governments, private, and society is necessary to achieve the goal,” she ended.
