UNAIR NEWS – Nine study programs of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) have gained FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation). Four of them are study programs of Faculty of Humanities (FIB): Indonesian Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, History, and Japanese Studies.
The Dean of Faculty of Humanities (FIB) Prof. Dr. Purnawan Basundoro SS MHum said that FIBAA is one of the higher education accreditation institutions with international quality and reputation.
“We chose this institution because it is an accreditation agency recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbud Ristek),” he said.
During the accreditation process, the Urban History expert explained that FIB had implemented several strategies to have a successful FIBAA accreditation campaign. First, it has involved all components of FIB, starting from lecturers, students, alumni, and administrative staff in the preparation process.
Second, it has prepared the system well with international standards. To support this, FIB has increased international partnerships to become part of a global teaching and research network in the field of humanities.
Third, during the visitation process, all of the FIB academic community have worked hard to answer the assessors’ questions clearly based on the actual conditions. Finally, the curriculum applied at FIB is an international standard curriculum so the assessment process has been considered well-achieved by FIBAA.
Give positive impact
Then, the lecturer of History study program said that this FIBAA international accreditation would positively impact all FIB study programs in the international arena.
“This allows the study program to organize various international activities. Starting from the opening of international classes, international partnerships, international research, and various other activities on a global scale,” he said.
As dean, Purnawan hoped that FIBAA accreditation could bring global influence to daily activities in Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
“We have to become a faculty with international coverage and be part of the international university network as well,” he concluded. (*)
